Title: Now That I've Got it. I Don't Intend To Lose It.
Character: Pirate Red
Media: Digital

This is my entry for Gunmetal Black's contest. I am so freaking proud of this. It is ridiculous. I pulled things from everywhere to try to do this.

Nasa. Star Trek. and of Course Gunmetalblack's UBER DETAILED drawings.

The quote is from the story...and i don't know what else to say. Numerous textures were used, photo manips, and an uber chair.

I hope you all enjoy, I had so much fun (except when photoshop bugged out on me but, meh) making this was great.

Why you gotta go and make stuff hard for me? Huh? So mean. :(

I LOVE the outfit. The stitches on her top make me squeal with glee--I'm on such a seaming kick. And the slouchy boots are joy itself. And the hair, and the pose--relaxed and at home, like she has just slouched into that awesome chair and thought "Yes, I am BACK."

The photomanip BG looks great--the cockpit was a great touch.

There's only one thing I would fiddle with--and that's the floor. I think you could have used Photoshop's Skew or Perspective function to tilt it and make it fit better with the perspective you've set up. (I only suggest b/c it's a tiny thing that would make a big difference.)

Shit--this is one high bar! I was going to go SIMPLE for mine. Jeebus.

Your welcome :)
And I think I shall,

The background is really well done, the kind of out of focus feel is wonderful,
And the red really adds a vibrancy to the piece, And your work in posturing is really, really improving, I like the position of her legs particularly,
Keep up with pieces like this and keep challenging yourself and your skills will improve in leaps and bounds :)

I wanted the out of focus feel, I didn't want a staright photo and I did whatever I could to change it. The red I picked was actually a take from one of Gunmetalblack's pieces. I stoled the color ^_^

When I take my time for posing I can usually get it pretty goood (thank the 3 lifedrawing classes I had) I wanted her pose to be strong and resolute, and I automatically thought of guys who have egos always sit with their legs the widest apart. I wanted that.

thanks, I hope I do!

Oh WOW. :D So much awesome here. First of all, the composition is absolutely phenomenal and has a real intensity about it I quite like. I also like the highlights and textures on her skin and her outfit and how well you brought off the cockpit background, and I especially like how you worked the quote from the story into it. :) Excellent work! You've set the bar for this contest hella high! :D

I hope there is intensity! I based the picture off the quote, as soon as I read that in the story, I knew that I needed her to be intense, like nothing was ever going to take her down.

i didn't have textures on her outfit at first, but it seemed so boring and plain. I needed something, but i didn't want to over do it, so I onle chose the smalled things on her outfit.

I love the background, it's a photo from a real spaceship. I manipulated it to make it look more beat up and old (even my dad was impressed ^_^)

Well, I had to set the bar, kabukikatze is in this thing. It is my personal mission to make her riase up her bar!

There is, and quite a lot, too! :) I think your reading of the quote and how it developed and worked into the overall theme of the pic is one of the reasons it comes through so strongly.

I think the textures worked well for you here--you have so much detail in the Bg it needed something to being the figure into it and integrate both elements in.

I'm pretty impressed too! I've sometimes tried to use more concrete elements in pics, but never took the time to distress them in this way, but it was well worth it in this case! :)

Oh I'd say for sure you've ably done that! :) This is gonna be a hotly contested . . .er, contest this year!

That is just an amazing piece of work, and well beyond even my lofty expectations of this piece. You've done a superlative job of mixing your media here, and I think you have set the bar very, very high for everyone else in this contest.

Awesome.

I was expecting something good, but this veers off into "DOUBLE PLUS GOOD" land. You continually are able to pull new tricks out of your bag and surprise me.

To me, that's the best part. :rose:
